Omaha Poker is an exciting game derived from Texas Hold’em with a slight difference in the playing methodology. It is played with four hole cards and five community cards in which the player MUST use two of the hole cards and three of the community cards to make the best five-card poker hand. In our software, we will be playing the Pot limit version of Omaha. Omaha is a trickier game in which you have to use the two best cards out of the four hole cards in your hand - that and the three community cards that you choose to use must make the best ranking 5 card poker hand that you can to win.

How to Play

To start with; each player is dealt with four face-down hole cards. Each game has a predefined size of a small blind and a big blind in the ratio of 1:2. One player is marked the dealer to begin with and that rotates in a clockwise direction to complete a full round. The small blind and big blind are placed by the first and second players immediately to the left of the marked dealer in every hand. The round commences after the hole cards are dealt and the force blinds are placed. The game is played in the following rounds:

Preflop

The round starts at the player who is sitting to the immediate left of the big blind. If any player raises the bet all the other active players have to either call the raised amount or fold to move to the next round.

One community card called the turn will be dealt face-up on the table accessible to all the players. The active player who is to the immediate left of the dealer will initiate the round with a bet or he can check (the entire round can go checked around if none of the active players decide to bet) as well. The round will initiate as previous rounds and end with the same rules as previously discussed.

When the betting is complete for the turn round a fifth community card will be dealt face-up on the table accessible to all players. The active players who have a chance to make the higher hand rank will continue to bet in the further rounds by call͛ing, raising or checking and the round continues till all the players have put the same bet amount and got the chance to act.

Once the river betting round completes, five face-up community cards are displayed and at least one active player is there. All the active players have to then showdown their cards and the highest-ranking player will win the pot amount. If two or more players hold the winning hand then the pot amount will be distributed in the same proportion.
